Lehi Invitational

This was Nicole's 2nd meet this season. The Lehi Invitational is notoriously long. Warm ups started at 8 a.m. The meet began at 8:30. The meet did not end until 2:15 p.m. Sadly, I had signed up as a volunteer timer and was stuck there for all those long, glorious hours. Usually, I don't mind timing. It makes the meet go more quickly. However, after 5 hours, I was very much done. Nicole's last event was the IM so the rest of the family left at 12:40. I was still there, being a dutiful timer. I was hungry and had to run to the bathroom and back as fast as possible during a race where my lane was empty. I barely made it back to time.

Enough whining. Nicole did great in her events. She swam back, butterfly, and the IM. She is doing well and loving swimming. She is so excited to have learned and used all her flip turns. Her dives are looking great. She is fun to watch!

We have our second meet this week tonight. At Tuesday's meet I worked the clerk of course (don't know if you guys do it that way...it's just where the kids get lined up and organized). It was my first time--I've only been a timer before--and I had a lot of fun. I got to talk to a lot of different swimmers that I didn't know before and I was outside in the cool shade, as opposed to being in the hot pool area. Keep up the good work, Nicole!
