Respect Forever
Last year, I had a very challenging class. This was mainly due so some problematic behaviors in a handful of students. Some of these behaviors I had never dealt with before. One student really struggled with some severe and unique behaviors. At the beginning of the year, he struggled to make eye contact or even communicate with me. During the year, we were able to develop a relationship and target some of his behaviors. He has very dedicated parents who were able to get him some additional help. He certainly made strides last year and was able to look me in the eye. By the end of the year, we had a plan to allow him to be even more successful in 4th grade. Due to boundary changes, he had to attend a new school. His mom contacted me in February and reported he had taken this new school as a fresh start. She also sent me a copy of a paper he had written. This is what teaching is all about. Being able to help a child find a way to improve himself no matter his circumstances, to know someone else cares and wants him become his best self. I am so proud of him and his progress this year!!
