Zack is not Everybody
Yes, I have a teenager. Last week I heard the dreaded words "everybody is going". The situation was this: the junior high school has a school dance every month. Zack has expressed interest in attending. Well, he really wanted to go this month. On the way home one night he said he wanted to go to the dance. I told him don't count on it since he is not 14, but his dad and I would talk. His argument was "everybody is going." I asked him, "Who is everybody?" He was able to tell me 2 girls from jujitsu and 1 other friend. When I asked about his very best friends, they were not going. I said I did not think he would go since we have been directed to go to dances at age 14. I wanted to follow that counsel. He was not happy with me at first but after a bit he got over it.

I so remember those days. But my parents totally stuck to the 14 rule and I think it was a good thing :) I'm sure dances are somewhat better here than they are in CA, but still, there's a reason church dances start at 14!!
Send him out here next November (no October dance in this stake) and I can DJ his first dance. I didn't even dance at the first dance that I went to.... I am a loser.
annie has no desire to go to her first church dance. none of her friends are old enough to go yet. so different than from when i turned 14. glad you're older than me :)
