Our regular church meetings were canceled today for all of Utah. I don't think I have ever experienced that before. There is no major catastrophe or emergency. They canceled the meetings to accommodate those who wanted to attend the dedication of the Oquirrh Mountain temple. They were broadcasting it at the churches at 9 and 3. Nicole and I are going at 3. We were sick when they dedicated the Draper temple in the spring.

No Church
Our regular church meetings were canceled today for all of Utah. I don't think I have ever experienced that before. There is no major catastrophe or emergency. We have only had that happen due to weather...and a bomb threat which is exciting when you live across the street from the church. Everyone kept calling to ask, "is the church still there?"
Seems like they are making a pretty big deal of this temple. A friend of mine was involved in choreographing the celebration they had...I haven't heard of such a big production over a single temple. And now cancelling meetings for the dedication? Nice, but a new concept for me.

Only in Utah...Interesting that you could go to any chapel and see the dedication. As Amy F. said, a new concept.
