Spring in Utah

Spring in Utah can be interesting. The weather never seems to make up its mind. Last week, we had 70 degrees and beautiful on Monday. Tuesday morning was 70 degrees. Tuesday night the temperature had dropped 40 degrees when a turbulent, windy cold front came through the state. There was wind, rain, wind, snow, and more wind. We have lived in the Lehi area for 20 years. We know it can get windy here and have lost shingles, welcome mats, shutters, peach and cherry blossoms, whole plants, and more from the wind. We have never lost a window before. Thanks to our kind neighbor, Keith got a text at work saying the wind had blown our window out. WHAT?!? How does that even happen?
Sure enough, the window had blown out. The miracle was the window was still in 1 piece and not shattered. Also, it was a basement window, so the dirt and tumbleweeds simply blew into our unfinished basement. Keith got the window ready to re install, but we decided to wait for more favorable conditions. The winds in the area were recorded as having gusts up to 81 mph.
We propped it up using support braces to hold it until the bad weather passed.
Since the weather was in the upper 60s today, it became the Saturday project. It is now screwed and caulked into place. The bonus for Keith was he got to by a new drill that works better with cement.
