Earthquake in Taiwan

As reported in the news, a 6.4 earthquake hit Taiwan yesterday. The area primarily affected was the city of Tainan. Zack moved from Tainan to Heng Chun about 4 weeks ago. Although he is not directly where the earthquake hit, I am sure he felt it. I am also sure he shares great concern for the friends and companions that remain in Tainan. We are looking forward to his emails this weekend to see what his earthquake adventure was like. Quite amazing for him to experience 2 typhoons and 1 earthquake, with multiple aftershocks, in the 13 months of his mission. We have no concerns about his safety because we know he is in good hands.

You can see from the map below where the majority of the shaking was felt. Zack is currently on the southern most tip of the country. It is a small country and I am sure shaking was felt by everyone.

We also received an email from the mission president reporting the following:

Dear Parents of Taiwan Taichung Missionaries,

As perhaps you are already aware, a 6.4 magnitude earthquake hit southern Taiwan early this morning. The epicenter was near Tainan.

All missionaries have been accounted for and are safe. There was no significant damage to any of our missionary apartments or mission property.

We appreciate your faith and prayers on behalf of our missionaries and all those who will be affected by this event.

Warm regards,

President Blickenstaff
