Off to San Francisco

On Christmas Day, we drove from San Diego to San Francisco. We made a stop by the San Diego temple on the way. It is a gorgeous building. The drive was long, windy, and rainy when we got close to Oakland. Our hotel was right in the city of San Francisco a couple blocks from Union Square and 1 block from the BART station. Perfect. The first night we simply checked out the hotel and walked to Union Square to see the huge Christmas tree. Here is a California Christmas tree :). Zack always gets excited to see palm trees and was hoping to see some with lights. There were some by our hotel in San Diego, but this one at Union Square was the best one we saw.

The day after Christmas, we took the BART to see the Oakland Raiders play the Indianapolis Colts. We were very excited since we had never been to a professional football game before. The 49ers were playing away as were the Chargers, so we decided to try the Raiders. We were secretly rooting for the Colts. The Raiders scored on the opening kickoff. That was fun to see live. Watching future hall of famer Peyton Manning was cool. The kids were even excited to watch the game. We have been trying for years to make football fans out of them. They are starting to actually show some interest :)
Manning is calling a play.

Sadly for the Oakland fans, the Colts won.
